Can cause: vomiting, depression, diarrhea, abdominal pain, hyper salivation, anorexia, tremors.
- Andromeda Japonica 'Pieris Japonica'
Toxic attribute: grayanotoxin
Can cause: vomiting, diarrhea, hyper salivation, weakness, coma, hypotension, CNS depression, cardiovascular collapse and death.
- Asian Lily 'Liliaceae'
Can cause in cats: vomiting, in appetence, lethargy, and kidney failure.
- Asparagus Fern 'Asparagus Sprengeri'
Can cause: allergic dermatitis with repeated dermal exposure. Berry ingestion could result in gastric upset (vomiting, abdominal pain, or diarrhea).
- Australian Nut 'Macadamia Integrifolia'
Can cause: depression, hyperthermia, weakness, muscular stiffness, vomiting, tremors, increased heart rate. Only reported in dogs at this time.
- Autumn Crocus 'Colchicum Autumnale'
Toxic attribute: liliaceae
Can cause: oral irritation, bloody vomiting, diarrhea, shock, multi-organ damage, bone marrow suppression.
- Avocado 'Persea Americana'
Toxic attribute: persin
Can cause: vomiting, diarrhea, death, inflammation of mammary glands of rabbits, goats, cattle, and horses- Cardiac failure in goats- Respiratory distress, generalized congestion, fluid accumulation around the heart.
- Azalea 'Rhododendron spp'
Toxic attribute: grayanotoxin
Can cause: vomiting, diarrhea, hyper salivation, weakness, coma, hypotension, CNS depression, cardiovascular collapse and death.
B
- Bird of Paradise 'Caesalpinia Gilliesii'
Can cause: gastrointestinal disorders such as diarrhea, vomiting, in coordination is possible. Death in rabbits.
- American Bittersweet 'Celastrus Scandens'
Can cause: weakness, convulsions, gastroenteritis (vomiting, diarrhea).
- European Bittersweet 'Solanum Dulcamara'
Toxic attribute: solanine, saponins, atropine-like substances
Can cause: drooling, in appetence, severe gastric upset, drowsiness, lethargy, weakness, dilated pupils, slow heart rate.
- Branching Ivy 'Hedera Helix'
Toxic attribute: (foliage is more toxic than the berries) hederagenin (a steroid saponic glycoside), triterpenoid saponins, falcardinol, didehydrofalcarinol.
